| Breeding Crassostrea gigas was conducted in three rivers of Morbihan (Brittany France). During one year, every four months, their increasement was examined. In one of these rivers, oysters showed, however their age and their origin, an abnormal increasement. Shells were very thick, with many chambers. At the opposite, in the two others rivers, oysters did not show that disordered state. Shells were sound and their linear increasement was harmonious |

| Les cartographies annuelles des biomasses microphytobenthiques ont été réalisées pour le bassin de Marennes-Oléron. Parallèlement les cartographies des caractéristiques sédimentaires ont été établies simultanément aux cartes d'abondance et biomasse macrofauniques en portant un effort particulier sur les densités des compétiteurs des huîtres notamment les Crépidules. Simultanément les études des mécanismes contrôlant le réseau trophique sur la vasière de Brouage ont été poursuivies notamment les relations entre les flux de sels nutritifs et le microphytobenthos. L'importance de ce dernier compartiment dans la nutrition de l'huître a été clairement mis en évidence par l'utilisation des traçeurs isotopiques naturels. | Depuis le mois de juin 1988, les ostréiculteurs ont fait part de la présence de mortalités importantes sur le banc de Ronce (bassin de Marennes-Oléron), d'abord auprès de l'Ifremer et des Affaires Maritimes, puis des pouvoirs publics. Ces problèmes ont été évoqués lors d'une réunion en Préfecture de Charente-Maritime, le 4 juillet 1988. Il s'est alors avéré nécessaire de réaliser un constat de la situation notamment sur le banc de Ronce, et de faire le point sur les causes pouvant être à l'origine de la situation sur les mortalités survenues dans cette zone. | Fishing and trade of living crustaceans are dynamic commercial sectors in France. 25 000 tons of local or imported crabs, lobsters , crawsfishes are yearly treated. Based upon a literature review and fishmongers interviews, this study describes the current pratices and problems associated to live crabs and lobsters storage. Supply conditions of live crustaceans, marketing networks, and biological, ecological and physiological characteristics of crustaceans were discussed. Morever, storage facilities, their operating rules and factors affecting the survival rate under storage and transportation conditions were reviewed. |

| Research on the black scallop followed that on the king scallop. Indeed, over the 1973-1975 " spadework » period, it has been demonstrated that the roadsted of Brest was: - an overexploited king scallop deposit; the broodstock not being able to ensure a satisfying renewal of the species. - a black scallop production deposit (hundreds of tonnes). In parallel, the collection trials provided null results for the king scallop but very interesting results for the black scallop (thousands of spats per collector). From 1976 onwards, the spat collecting operations did not focus on king scallop juveniles anymore, but on black scallop. |

| The bacteria of the Vibrio genus are one of the most abundant groups in the aquatic ecosystems. Two species of vibrios, Vibrio splendidus and V. Aestuarianus, have been associated, in some cases, to mortality in flat oyster Crassostrea gigas farms, most of the time during the summer period. This doctoral thesis studies the Vibrio-host interaction and their modulations according to the host's pathogenic virulence and its genetic, physiologic and immunitary parameters. | In the scope of the Morest program, 3 series of bi-parental families of cupped oyster consisting of full and half-sib have been created in 2001, and then studied on a regular basis on several sites over the summer period. In October, major survival differences had been demonstrated between the 3 families. The average survival rate for the half-sib families monitored on the three sites varies from 17 to 97 %. Some of them showed high mortality for the three sites, indicating a strong genetic basis (h2 = 0.81 - 0.29) to the variations observed regarding survival. | 2001 shows how important the "R" and "S" biological families are for experimentation as well as the need to "preserve" these families from mortality during the first year. The "experimental nursing" conditions do not allow the conservation of dozens of families with many members for 6 to 8 months. Precocious characterisation at around 4-5 months enables a first selection of the biological material, as well as a first answer to the "in lab" genetical selection of the families.
